Mudrooms are often one of the rooms in the house that is often missed when it comes to styling, as it’s a secondary entrance and generally a place to put all your muddy and wet boots, shoes, coats and umbrellas. But most of the time this entrance is used quite a bit and if it’s a room where your visitors can see, then you definitely want to make sure it’s not left out and still ties in with the rest of your home. If you don’t want your Mudroom to look messy and untidy, then you want to make sure you have enough storage to hide all the mess as well as hooks and places to hang coats and umbrellas so they can dry naturally. Seating is also ideal and important for a Mudroom so you have somewhere to sit down to take your boots and shoes off and if space is an issue then a great way to make use of space is to incorporate a bench seat into your joinery.
There are many ways to make your Mudroom a real feature of the house. Coloured or dark joinery is a great way to add some colour and or depth to your Mudroom or if you prefer to keep things neutral and light, then think about using different materials such as timbers and stone to add the interest and some texture to the space. And don’t forget lighting as a large decorative pendant light can really finish off a Mudroom and make it feel more like a room rather than a small entrance way. And if you want to add some warmth to your floor then think about adding a large mat for some warmth and softness underfoot, but just make sure it’s one that is washable or one for exterior use so it’s easy to clean.
We love these Mudroom designs that we have found and we are sure you will too!
