Porters Chalk Emulsion paint makes upcycling pieces of furniture a piece of cake! Porters Chalk Emulsion has a very matt finish with a chalky, soft appearance. It is easy to use, is self priming on most surfaces including bare timber, previously varnished or painted furniture and can be applied in different ways to achieve various looks. And the best thing is that it can be tinted to pretty much any Porters paint colour!
Porters Chalk Emulsion can be applied on interior woodwork, timber furniture including picture frames, shelving and even on broad wall areas. Since Porters Chalk Emulsion is a matt finish, you may want to seal and protect your piece against marks etc. We recommend applying one of Porters Waxes over the coating. For a simple clear wax finish use Porters Bees Wax, for an antique effect try Porters Lime Wax whereas if you prefer a dark aged finish then use Porters Black Antique Wax. Since the Porters Waxes are classed as Dangerous Goods, we can supply these waxes to you however we will need to obtain a Dangerous Good delivery quote for you. Contact us on [email protected] or call us on 0450 602 891 if you would like us to arrange a quote for you.
Tip:Â If you are wanting to create that distressed look, then look no further as you can use Porters Chalk Emulsion to do this. Just apply your base colour (which will be the colour that will be underneath otherwise you can leave it bare timber if you prefer), let dry and then apply your second colour as your top coat. Once the Chalk Emulsion paint is dry, use sandpaper or steel wool to rub down the top layer of paint to your desired finish and then apply one of the Porters Waxes if preferred.
Note: Very dark colours may appear lighter in the Chalk Emulsion Paint than shown on the sample / colour chip. This is due to the high chalk content in the paint. You can apply Porters Stucco Wax as well over the Chalk Emulsion for a clear finish as the Stucco Wax will deepen and darken the colour. However if you aren’t using one of the waxes as a finish coat and you require the colour to be accurate, then it may be better choosing a lighter colour instead. Porters Stucco Wax is also classed as Dangerous Goods, so you’ll need to contact us for pricing and delivery charges.
Porters Chalk Emulsion is generally self priming, however sometimes an undercoat may be required. If your piece is already coated with a high gloss, you’ll need to give it a light sand before applying the Chalk Emulsion just to make sure it’ll stick.
