Are you stuck with outdated Terracotta Floor Tiles but don’t have the funds or time to replace them? Well look no further as we have some ideas in how you can keep your Terracotta Floor Tiles but still make your space feel more modern and more up-to-date.
There are many ways in how you can make your existing Terracotta Floor Tiles work and not look too outdated. One is to keep the rest of the space nice and neutral by painting the walls a fresh contrasting white and keeping all your furniture and accessories very plain so you are working with natural textures instead of colour. This works well since Terracotta Floor Tiles have quite a bit of colour to them, so rather than making the space really busy by adding lots of other colours to it, you are keeping everything else quite plain which then makes the tiles a feature. Earthy textured materials such as rattan, timber and stone help to add warmth to the space and to soften the contrasting white walls. This can also help to lighten up the space and give it an airy feel as sometimes Terracotta Floor tiles can make a room feel really dark.
The second way is to go dark with your joinery and or walls to help balance out the Terracotta and to give your space a real moody feel. Just make sure you again add accents of natural materials such as timbers and stones to your space to help add some softness and warmth to the dark joinery and/or paintwork.
Textured paint finishes on walls such as Dulux Light Texture Effect, Porters French Wash, Porters Stone Paint Fine, Porters Interno Limewash, Porters Fresco and Dulux Concrete Effect also work well with Terracotta Floor Tiles as they have an earthy feel about them and add some soft texture to the space to help soften the sometimes coldness and harshness that a floor tile can give.
