When it comes to colour schemes, Black & White is a very popular and timeless colour palette. However sometimes it can feel a little cold and stark. But what you team with your Black & White can make the world of difference. Think timbers, natural earthy materials such as jute and linen, stone, marble and tan leathers are all a good addition to a Black and White scheme without taking away too much from the theme. And think about layering the tones so adding different variations of whites or creams and blacks or charcoals to your space to also help create some softness that is sometimes much needed. The great thing about a Black & White scheme is that you’ll never get sick of it and if you do, it’s easy to add another colour to the mix without having to change everything within the space.
Tip: Besides using various tones of Black & White within your space, another way to create some interest is with sheen levels. Add some gloss or sheen to your paint or woodwork colour to make it a feature or you can also add some accent pieces in terms of furniture or furnishings with a bit of shine. This will add another layer to your space in terms of texture and especially if you don’t want to add another colour or tone. It’s all about adding layers of either tone or texture rather than adding colour.
