When looking at a colour scheme for your modern exterior home, you can create interest by highlighting certain features with a contrast colour or material (i.e. panels, timber, stone etc).  It’s always good to stick to around 3 different colours (or 3 colours & one neutral) so you don’t go too overboard & have your home looking like a circus tent full of different colours!

It’s also important to think about balance & how all the colours are working together – you don’t want to make your home look too top heavy with a dark colour only on the top or visa versa.

Start creating your scheme by selecting the pieces you don’t have much colour options for (i.e. roof, garage, window etcs) as these will usually only come in certain Colorbond colours or Powdercoat colours.  Once these have been established, it’s then easier to work out the rest of the colour scheme, as you then have a starting point.  You can then too work out what you want as a feature & want you want to blend (i.e. do you want your garage door to blend in with your wall colour or become a feature)?

When creating a modern exterior with colour, think earthy, warm grey tones and contrast (you want some features darker and some lighter to create interest).  Try to stay clear from yellow paint tones, as these can quickly age a property and give it a more classic look.
