Kitchen Dining Rooms

Many of us have our Kitchen and Dining Room together in the same space.  It may be due to lack of space or open plan living, but having the Kitchen and Dining Room together can work well especially in socialising and entertaining situations.  You can still be in the Kitchen preparing food whilst your guests are sitting down at the table and still having a conversation with you.  But many struggle with how to furnish these two areas and how to make them look good, especially if space isn't on your side.  We've found some inspiring ways in how you can bring these two areas together in style no matter the size of your space.

Tip: If your Kitchen area is the only Dining space you have, then you want to make sure it's comfortable.  We spend a lot of time sitting at a Dining Table especially when you have guests over for a meal, so you want to make sure the table and seat height is correct.  Bar Stools are a perfect seating option for space saving, however they aren't that comfortable without a back.  Dining Table and Chairs are the far more comfortable option for sitting down long term, but they don't have to take up that much room if you are working with a small space.  Opt for less bulky pieces of furniture in smaller spaces such as chairs with open backs or refined upholstered pieces.  Anything that allows light through (such as a tubular design chair) or a lower upholstered back chair will give the feeling of more space, but still providing support and comfort.  Bench seating is also another good option if you are wanting to make the most of your space with maxium seating.  And if you choose upholstered seating, think about the choice of fabric and your lifestyle.  You don't want to use a decorative light weight fabric on a chair that is going to be used regularly and if you have children or messy parties or messy friends, you want to make sure you chose a fabric that is wipeable and scrubbable, so it would be better to look at a man-made fabric, leather or faux leather.
