Delivered to your door
If you really want your entrance to stand out from the rest, then think about adding a Metal Front Door. Many people are choosing timber for their front doors but if you want something different to everyone else than look at a Metal Front Door. Metal Front Doors are quite easy to maintain and you can still achieve different looks depending on what you apply to your metal and the texture you choose.
Porters, Dulux & Haymes have a few decorative effects paints suitable for metal and in particular exterior applications, so ideal for a Metal Front Door. Porters Industrial Lustre has a glitter effect and available in various colours and Porters Liquid Iron & Instant Rust is used to create a rusted finish. Dulux and Haymes also have some metal effects paints – Dulux Design Copper Effect with their Dulux Copper Patina Effect and in Haymes there is Haymes Artisian Collection Real Copper Paint or Haymes Designer Finishes Real Iron Paint with their Haymes Artisian Collection Oxidising Patina that can be applied to both these Haymes products to give each paint a different patina effect.
If you are using a metal effect paint product such as rust or one with a patina, they create real rust and/or patina. If the paint is exposed to weather, every time it rains or gets wet the rusting or patina process will continue and you will most often get rust / patina run off onto walls or onto the ground which can also cause staining to other surfaces. To eliminate this from happening you can apply an appropriate clear coating over the effect paint to seal the coating, such as Porters Instant Rust Clear Sealer. This will also help to stop more oxidising from happening so if you like the look you have created (with the right amount of rust or patina) and don’t want it to change appearance over time then it’s definitely worth while adding an appropriate exterior clear. Also if you apply one of these metal effect paint products to your Front Door, you don’t want any of the rust or patina to rub onto your clothes or onto your hands when you touch the door.
