Add extra seating to your dining with Bench Seating

Bench Seating is a great way to add extra seating while making the most of your dining space. You can often fit more people along a Bench Seat than when chairs are placed around a table as chairs can sometimes be very bulky and take up a lot more floor space. Some people have the perception of Bench Seating being uncomfortable. But if you choose to opt for an upholstered Bench Seat and one in a practical and wipeable fabric, then Bench Seats can be just as comfortable and useful as any dining chair. When looking at fabric and if you are wanting something that doesn’t absorb spills too quickly, then it’s always best to look at man-made or synthetic fabrics rather than natural fabrics such as linens, cotton and wool that will absorb liquids more quickly and don’t give you as much time to wipe any spills away. If you want a breathable and wipeable upholstered surface then genuine leather is a great option (if it’s within your budget) as it’s more breathable than vinyl and PVC and very wipeable plus still has the softness for extra comfort.

If you are needing extra storage in your dining area, then think about incorporating inbuilt drawers into the base of your Bench Seat or even have a lift up seat option for even more storage. And if you are incorporating your Bench Seat dining in with your Kitchen design, then look at using the same materials and or colour to your Kitchen joinery so it becomes one and part of your Kitchen. Adding a Bench Seat to the front of an island is an ideal way to make the most of space as well as incorporating it into your Kitchen design. This will also make your tight space not feel as small and more of a seamless and open space rather than separating the two areas. Whereas if you have a pretty plain dining area and wanting to create some interest, then look at highlighting your Bench Seat in a bold upholstered fabric and or colour or choose to use a contrasting building material for the frame such as natural timber, laminate or with paint so it’s different to your Kitchen joinery. And if you are adding dining chairs to your table as well, then you can also highlight the Bench Seat in a different fabric and or colour to the dining chairs. The options are really endless when it comes to Bench Seating designs.
