The use of Concrete has become quite popular in today’s modern architecture and is being used for both interiors and exteriors. Inside Concrete is now being used as a choice of flooring, feature walls, ceilings and even as a material for benches in the kitchen or in the wet area. Outside Concrete is still being used for pathways and pavers and is now also being used for exterior walls and eaves. Both internal and external Concrete can be coated with a clear product for protection or even washed with a product such as Porters Concrete Wash to give some colour to the Concrete while still highlighting the texture of the Concrete.
Porters Concrete Wash is available in 6 different colours ranging from light to dark and you can control the intensity of colour depending on the techniques used to apply the product. Porters Concrete Wash is recommended for interior floors and suitable for exterior masonry. It’s just not suitable for drive ways or car parking areas. When used on interior flooring, it is suggested to apply Porters Clearcote over the Porters Concrete Wash otherwise it will gradually wear away, but can be refreshed when required.
If you are unsure which coating is suitable for your Concrete send us an email to [email protected] or call us on 0450 602 891 and we’ll be able to answer all your questions.
Tips: Since Concrete can have a cold appearance to it, add some warmth to your space by teaming your Concrete with timber or natural stone. These materials work well together as a suitable contrast and without taking away too much of the focus from your Concrete. Timber and Stone are timeless materials so they won’t date your Concrete or your space and timber forms a reliable base as it is so versatile with staining and painting options for in the future.
If you are going for more of an earthy look with your Concrete, it’s then best to keep your other materials and surfaces looking earthy as well. Opt for matt or low sheen finishes as opposed to anything in a high gloss, otherwise these could over power your Concrete and will take away that earthy and natural feel from your space, especially if you want your Concrete to be the main feature. Remember the approach of “less is more” when creating an earthy and natural look and this will also help to make your choice of natural materials “stand out” from everything else.
